a fresh start

Where do I start?

If you are considering giving your website a major facelift, the first thing to consider is what you would like to achieve.

Define your goals

Defining your goals will give you a clear path - it will also help us decide where to focus the design and how best to make it function.

Do your homework

If you have access to a statistics program, check out which pages are the most popular. This might give you some clues about which areas to focus on. Ask your customers what they like or dislike about your website. Look at possible ways your website could save you time. Then work out which area you would like to focus on, and write this down as a primary goal. This is important as sometimes two goals can be incompatible (For example, having a dynamic site with a lot of movement and achieving a high google ranking is often not possible). Keep a note of all your secondary goals as we will discuss the best way to achieve them without diluting your primary goal.

Considerations

Once you have a good idea of what you would like, check out our considerations page to see if what you would like is possible with your current website. If you want to retain your existing website and build on it, the technology it is built in may be important in determining costs and longevity of your site.
