General Information

Mass emailing your newsletters is a quick and cost-effective way to get news out to your contacts.

To send an e-newsletter you will need:

An e-newsletter template + A 'sign up to my e-newsletter' form on your website, which automatically adds subscribers to your database + A database system to collate subscribers and automatically manage unsubscribes

To be able to send e-newsletters, you need a way of managing your subscribers and sending your emails in a way which is compliant with Australian Anti-Spam Laws and which will send your emails incrementally.

Datasearch offers support for two popular e-newsletter management programs: icontact (www.icontact.com) and Campaign Monitor (www.campaignmonitor.com).

FAQs:

  • Can Datasearch take care of the mailout for me?
Yes, while both programs allow you to prepare and send your own enewsletters (set up the email text, links, images etc,) some of our busier clients prefer us to do it for them.  (We can perform this service under one of our website maintenance plans). All you would need to do is to send us the content and images you would like in your mailout and we will send you the test and do the final mailout.

  • Can I import an existing list of email contacts?
Yes, any existing list of email contacts you may have can be imported into your enewsletter program,
as long they are either in the form of an excel spreadsheet, a Comma Separated Value (.CSV) or VCard (.VCF) file. If you have details like 'First Name' and 'Last Name' in your spreadsheet, icontact will ask if you would like to import these details, so you can use them to personalise your mailouts.

  • Can you add a 'sign up to my e-newsletter button to my website?
Yes, Datasearch can create a ‘Sign up to my e-newsletter…’ button for your website. When visitors click on this, they will be taken to a form on your website which will allow them to subscribe (and will automatically add them to your database and notify you if you would like this).  So whenever you send out an enewsletter you know your list will be up to date.

  • Can I display past e-newsletters on my website?
Yes, both programs automatically create an 'archive' page for you to link to.  Campaign monitor will also enable you to list your newsletters on the page and link to each one.

  • How do people unsubscribe?
When a person receives an e-newsletter from you, an unsubscribe link will appear automatically at the bottom of the email.  If a person wishes to unsubscribe, they can click this link and select which lists they would like to unsubscribe from.  Alternatively, you, the account administrator can remove a person or inactivate them.

  • What information can I find out about the emails I send?  Both programs have excellent email tracking.  You can see which email addresses have opened your email, which links they clicked on, how many emails bounced and much more.

Please contact datasearch for more information or if you wish to go ahead and start sending enewsletters today.
