How to set up your SmarterMail account on your iPhone

There are two ways to use email on your iphone - setting it up as an account, or simply browsing to your email like a normal website. 

Viewing your email using webmail is the simplest option and will give you the most functionality, however you will need to manually check for email. 

Option 1 – Viewing your email using webmail

1. Select your iPhone browser – Safari
2. In the address bar of your browser window type: http://email.datasearch.com.au/login.aspx
3. You will now see a login window.
Enter your:
User Name: (email address)
Password: (password)
4. Select – 'Login'
You now have access to emails. 

Option 2 - Creating an account in your iPhone

1. Select 'Settings' Icon
2. Scroll down until you see 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars' and select this item.
3. Under the heading 'Accounts' – select 'Add Account' (You will now see ‘mail server’ preselect options such as Hotmail, Yahoo etc.) – select 'Other' from this list.
4. Under the heading ‘Mail’ – select ‘Add Mail Account’ and enter ;
• Name: Joe Blogs
• Email address: joe@email.com.au
• Password: xxxx
• Description: (eg – my work email)
5. Now select 'Save'.

The iPhone will now check account information and will bring you to a new window once done. This is where you will set up incoming and outgoing server information.

6. In the new window you will see IMAP and POP – select 'POP'. (this will only suit webmail settings)
7. INCOMING MAIL SERVER – enter details.
• Host Name: mail.yourdomainname.com.au
• User Name: yourname@yourdomainname.com.au
• Password: (enter your password)

8. OUTGOING MAIL SERVER – enter details:
• Host Name: smtp.yourdomainname.com.au
• User Name: optional
• Password: optional

The iPhone will now verify the POP email account info.
You may get a pop up window saying:

Can’t connect using SSL. Would you like to try without SSL? – select 'YES'.

9. When the account is created, go back into the settings and under 'Outoing Mail Server', set 'Use SSL'  to OFF and set the Port number to 45.

Go back to your email icon on the main screen of your iPhone.
Select your specific email account and test.
